Q: What is a ministry partnership?
A: A ministry partnership is a voluntary
grouping of presbyteries which covenant with the Synod and
each other to address common ministry goals or concerns.
Q: What do ministry partnerships do?
A: A ministry partnership carries out
a specific mission or ministry which impact presbyteries and
local congregations.
Q: How does a ministry partnership get started?
A: The initiative for starting a ministry
partnership ordinarily lies with presbytery. Presbyteries
who share a common ministry goal or concern may join with
one or more other presbyteries to request a partnership with
the Synod.
Q: Can a Synod start a partnership?
A: The Synod may suggest that two or
more presbyteries form a partnership to address a particular
ministry.
Q: How can an individual or local congregation
be instrumental in starting a ministry partnership?
A: If individuals and/or congregations
share a ministry concern, they may encourage their presbytery
to complete a ministry partnership application.
Q. What if there are no other known
presbytery partners?
A. After the presbytery has completed
the application, the presbytery should continue to search
for partners with the Synod’s assistance through its
contacts, web page, etc.
Q: How long does a ministry partnership exist?
A: A ministry partnership may be approved
for up to three years. Each ministry partnership will include
one or more Synod commissioners.
Q: How is a ministry partnership funded?
A: A ministry partnership is funded
through the resources of its presbytery partners and may request
funding from the Synod. Synod funding decisions will be based
on available resources, requests and regular reviews of each
endorsed partnership.
Q. Can a presbytery join an existing partnership?
A. Yes, a ministry partnership is open
to all presbyteries in the Synod according to the guidelines
established by that partnership.
Q. When should applications for ministry partnership
be submitted?
A. The deadline for applications from
presbyteries is July 1.
