Tupelo Hosts Synod P.W.
Triennial Gathering

Columbia Theological Seminary president
Laura Mendenhall presented a provocative opening keynote address on the
theme of the conference: “Hearing God’s Call—Responding
with Joy.” She reminded the gathering that the initial response
to a call from God has not always been spontaneous joy.
Synod executive David Snellgrove gave
the opening meditation for the 4th Annual Triennial Gathering of Presbyterian
Women in the Synod of Living Waters. He received an honorary life membership
in PW from Synod PW moderator Carolyn Jordan “for the wonderful
support he has given Presbyterian Women in the synod.”

Carolyn Jordan, at right, turned over
the Synod PW Moderator’s gavel to Martha Knichel, who is from St. Andrew
Presbytery.

Dale Lindsey Morgan, who wrote the new
PW Bible study WHAT SHE SAID, presented an outstanding and frequently
hilarious commentary on the study and was keynote speaker on Sunday morning.

Among the PW leaders introduced at the
gathering, were: (left to right) Bligh Jones, Juanita Callahan, Diane
Thurston, Mary Weber, Carmen Pendergast, Carolyn Neighbors, Mary Hammett,
Betty Bierbaum, Nancy Bryson. The gathering was blessed with many gracious
hosts at First Presbyterian Church in Tupelo, MS.
